The Board of Trustees shall
govern the affairs of the Library by adopting policies
and seeing that they are carried out, by hiring the Library
Director, and by administering the budget.
A. There shall be five (5) Trustees. One Trustee shall
be elected each year at Town Meeting to serve a term of
five years.
B. Vacancies occurring during an elected term shall be
filled by appointment of the Selectmen upon the advice
of the Library Board of Trustees. The appointee shall
serve on the Board until the next Town Meeting, at which
time the vacancy must be filled by election.
C. Members of the Board who are repeatedly absent from
meetings are accountable to the Chair as to their reasons.
D. A majority of the total number of Trustees shall constitute
a quorum for transacting business
.
A. Officers are to be elected at the first Trustee meeting
following Town Meeting, and shall hold office for one
year.
B. The duties of the officers shall be as follows:
a. Chairperson – the Chairperson shall preside at
all meetings and shall perform other duties as usually
pertain to that office.
b. Secretary – the Secretary shall keep a record
of the proceedings of all meetings of the Trustees, and
shall perform all other duties as usually pertain to that
office.
c. Treasurer – the Treasurer shall take charge of
the receipt, care, and disbursement of the Library's money,
and shall report the financial status of the library at
each meeting.
The Board of Trustees shall meet monthly. Meetings will
be warned seven days in advance in at least two public
locations. Meetings shall be open to the public.
The By-Laws may be amended at any regular meeting of the
Board of Trustees, provided that notice of the proposed
amendment has been presented to the members at the proceeding
meeting. Amendments require a unanimous vote to be passed.
