Library materials are purchased
with resources provided by the generosity of library
donors and grant funds. The Board of Trustees and the
Library Director are charged with the responsibility
of providing a diverse mix of materials and formats
and insuring their availability for the use of the community.
Each item in the library collection represents an investment
in acquisition, preparation, record keeping, cataloging,
fees, and staff and volunteer time. It is the responsibility
of the borrower to safeguard library materials while
in their care and return them when due.
When an individual fails to return library materials
or returns them with damage that limits the use or life
of the item, the borrower will be charged for the value
of the item.
• An invoice
shall be mailed to the borrower for materials not returned
to the library within 6 weeks of their due date.
• The invoice
shall state the title, due date, and fee due.
• The library
material must be returned or the fee paid within 30
days of invoice or library privileges will be suspended.
• When library
materials are damaged beyond normal wear that limits
the use or life of the article, the borrower shall be
charged for the replacement of the item.
• Failure
to reimburse the library for the cost of the material
within 30 days shall result in the suspension of the
borrower's library privileges.
• The fee
for a lost or damaged item is equivalent to the purchase
price or the current replacement cost for the item at
the discretion of the librarian.
• A processing
fee of $5.00 may be charged to compensate for the time
and materials necessary to order, cover, barcode, label,
catalog and otherwise prepare the material for circulation.
