Special Lecture

After a successful Summer Lecture Series we are happy to present this special lecture with wildlife researcher and photographer Brad Winn at the Rochester Public Library Thursday, August 28th at 7:00 pm . He will speak about the Birds of Alaska’s Arctic Refuge and National Petroleum Reserve and discuss findings from ongoing research on the specific seasonal landscape needs of the shorebirds that nest on Alaska’s North Slope. Come hear about some of the findings and see his photographs from 4 research expeditions to the arctic. Refreshments will be served after the talk.

Later in the evening, Barak Obama’s acceptance speech from the Democratic National Convention will be projected on the big screen. Join us for this first in a series of programs and forums on Election 08. Candidates for local and statewide office are invited to speak at the library during this election season..

Many thanks to our 2008 Summer lecture speakers:

Adopt an Author Program
Donors may also sponsor the expansion of our collection of classic authors. The Adopt-an-Author program allows the library to acquire all of the new titles published by their chosen author. When a new title becomes available the sponsor is placed 1st in the hold queue, has her/his name placed on a donor plate on the title page, and reimburses the library for the cost of the book.  This cost is usually 25-45% off cover price.
